Christmas

Holaaaaa todos and FELIZ NAVIDAD (for yesterday)!!!!!!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful CHRISTmas!!!

This week has been amazingggggg!! I've learned that people watching here in City Heights is one of my favorite things to do, they're is such a wide range of cultures here and I looooove it. I've already met so many people. My new ward is full of so many great people. One in particular is Hermana Galvas. She is very very very affectionate haha. She is also so crazy and hilarious and loud and her favorite thing to do is spoil the missionaries. She also makes goooooood food. There are so many others who are just as amazing too and I'm so grateful I get to know them.

Funny(ish) story: Earlier this week we came back to the apartment for dinner. Hermana Rooks and I were talking and eating and all of a sudden we noticed that a helicopter was flying around right by our apartment complex. It had been flying around for while but we didn't really pay attention to it (they're are a lot of weird noises that go on in this complex haha). But my companion said that the police were probably looking for someone and she just went and locked the door. I guess it's pretty common here. Anyways, the next day we found out that someone had been shot by our apartment and they were looking for the guy haha so that was nice .. 😊  despite all the craziness here, I love it. It makes our days really interesting and gives us funny memories!!!

CHRISTMAS!! For Christmas we all got together as a zone and opened our Christmas gifts. After that we played games and sports and it was soooooo fun. Our zone leaders made breakfast for everyone and then we all ate the candy that we had been sent. Soooooo good. It was super nice to be able to talk to my family both in Utah and Australia. Super grateful for things like Skype!!!

This Christmas season was so amazing and I'm so grateful for the real reason for the season, Jesus Christ. I'm so thankful that I get to be a missionary for Him and that I get to share His gospel with the people here in San Diego. Being a missionary has been such a blessing already in just these short 4 months and in excited to continue doing this. I love Jesus Christ so much and have really come to rely on Him so much more.

I love you all!! Thank you so much for all of your sweet emails/letters/packages etc. I am so grateful for them and for you all!!!

So my new apartment is pre-scented with marijuana. haha yeet And we have some nice background noises of rowdy SDSU students and some gun shots here and there, nice ;). It was hard leaving El Rey, the members and the people we are teaching there are amazing!!

Rain and Shine

Hola todos!! This week we got hit with some wicked rain storms with some minor flooding. It made finding super fun but also veryyyyy cold. It actually helped a lot because people were more willing to let us in haha so now we have a couple of more people to teach.
RAIN!

Last Monday we found a lady in our area book, her name is Marina. It says that she's a member, just inactive. We decided that we would stop by to see what was going on. We went and knocked her door. Her little apartment was FULL of stuff and we couldn't really sit down anywhere. Her husband Guillermo was there and he was very nice (not a member so we are hoping that we will be able to start teaching him soon!!). Marina was very sweet and we could tell that her health wasn't doing really good, so we are hoping that next time we see her we can talk about her getting a blessing!! We stayed for a little while and chatted and talked about the church. We left and she told us to come back on Friday. So, on Friday we went back to see her. Her apartment was still a little messy but she had cleared a space on the couch for us to sit and things were a little more organized. She told us she felt the need to clean her life up a little bit after we had left and she decided to start with her house. It was only a small change but it's a start and it made us super happy. We are so happy that we get to be helping her back onto the gospel path and maybe even her husband too.

Meet Eldin and his chickens. He speaks perfect Spanish. I guess that's what happens when your mom is Mexican and your dad is American.

On that same Friday before Marina, we had a lesson with Karen. Karen is progressing so well. Her family has started warming up to the church and even her boyfriend has. We have been working so hard with her. Her boyfriend is fine if she goes to church now so we are crossing fingers, toes, arms, and everything that she comes this week. I think my favorite moment this week was after we had left Karen's house. Hermana Batchelor and I were driving away and came to a 4 way stop. We noticed a homeless man trying to cross the road but no one was letting him cross. When it came to be our turn we waved and smiled at him to let him know that he could cross, and you would have thought that we had told him that he won the lottery. He smiled SO big and gave us a little wave. I am not even kidding when I say that Hermana Batchelor and I started crying as we drove away. I still get emotional about it if I am being honest hahahaha. Good times!!

On Sunday we had our stake Christmas concert. It was so fun and there were soooo many people. We even got to talk to Catholic nuns and they were sooo nice! (If I'm being honest, when I first saw them I thought they were playing a part in the nativity because there were some other women in similar clothing in the program haha). Anyways, it was super cool to talk to them and get to understand their religion a little more.

It was a great week this week and we're getting closer and closer to CHRISTMAS!!!! I'm so thankful for this time that I have to focus even more on my Savior Jesus Christ and that I get to share the happiness of the gospel with my brothers and sisters here in San Diego. It's not always easy, but the good times have always outweighed the bad and I know that with the help of my Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost, I will be just fine 😊. I love you all!!

Thank you for all of you emails, I don't always get to reply to all of them right away but I really do appreciate them!

Hopefully this week is just as good if not better and comes with a little less tamales hahaha!

Sorry for the lack of pictures!! Hopefully next week will be better haha

#iluminaElMundo

Hola todos!!

I cannot believe it is December already!! The Christmas season is in full swing and I am loving it!! Also I guess tamales are like a Christmas thing for Mexicans so we have been eating SO many and getting deliveries of them from members. We are also going to be learning how to make them #FullTimeMissionaryPartTimeChef 👩🏽‍🍳

This photo is literally how most of our meals are haha

This week we kicked off December with some Christmas caroling. It was SO fun. Everyone told us that we sounded like "angelitas" hahaha and for those of you who have heard me sing know that that is a fat lie. BUT on the other hand, if you have ever gone to a Spanish ward and heard them sing the hymns, maybe we do sound like angelitas haha. But nothing brings the spirit like music!

Light saber!!!! And star wars Christmas decorations!!!

Stitch!! Cute lil pup!

I don't have a ton of time left but I just wanted to encourage you all to check out the light the world program from the church and to get involved in service. It doesn't have to be something big. But I know that if we all choose to serve, the world will be a little more brighter.

I love you guys so much!!

Transfer PDay!!

Wowowowow so much to say and not enough time!! This week was pure craziness so I'll try to get everything in Haha. This week was my co...
